    Time Event
    11:35a
    progress?
I wrote up my Idea on Saturday, and then stalled out. So I started work, finally, on my outline for the book. I've been working without one so far (I'm about 10,000 words in). I knew the beginning of the book, because I'd already written it, and the resolutions of the various characters' stories, and a few events that happened between beginning and end. However, connecting those events, and including more events as connection and plot, is for me the complicated part.

If I follow my usual pattern, my outline will change a bit as I write, because things always turn out differently for me than I originally pictured, especially in details. For now, I broke the book down into three sections, beginning, middle, and end. I focused on what scenes I still needed in section one, to set everything up and then complicate it; then I made notes on a few scenes I'd like to have in section two, which will be emotionally darker and more complex. I'm not too worried about scenes leading up to the end yet. A lot of that will depend on how the middle goes.

It's frustrating to have to stop and make notes instead of writing and thus racking up wordcount. It feels like progress has temporarily stopped. But if I don't outline, my progress will be much more random, and slower in the end.
