RWA planning
The workshop schedule for RWA National is now online, so I went through and picked ones I'd like to attend, choosing "useful" over "interesting but not relevant." Then I examined my tentative schedule, and signed up for a single volunteer session, helping to set up for lunch on Thursday. That should be fun, and I'll get to meet some other volunteers.

Question about Your New Release Coming

Hi Victoria, I saw you post a comment on Smart Bitches that you have a first sale. So I looked up your website. I didn't see anyway to contact you except for your blog.

I see you have a Harlequin Spice coming this year. From the title, it looks to be maybe an historical? Am I right?

Just curious. And Congratulations!

Yes, THE DUCHESS etc. is a historical. Sort of. I deliberately didn't make it any real period so that I could be free with the characters' sexual mores. It's vaguely 18th century in clothing and technology, and the trappings/names are French, but the political setup leans towards medieval. My second book for Spice, which I'm working on now, is a "real" historical set during the early days of WWI. There's no pub date for the second one yet.

My website is kind of a placeholder right now; hopefully I can get a more pleasing design once this manuscript is turned in!

Victoria, Thanks for answering my question. I will definitely buy your Duchess story when it is released.

I wasn't aware that Harlequin Spice released historicals. I always thought they were strictly a contemporary series.

And I like that you didn't set a specific date. Like you said, I'm sure you were able to play around with the storyline more freely.

Thanks again. And looking forward to the release date!

Spice seems to be branching out--there was a Western out in Dec-07, and I think at least one other historical is coming out soon.
